Developers working on unfamiliar systems are challenged to accurately identify where and how high-level concepts are implemented in the source code. Without additional help, concept location can become a tedious, time-consuming and error-prone task. For software engineers, the existing information retrieval (IR) techniques fall short of providing adequate solutions in finding all the relevant program elements implementing a business concept. The IR techniques consider only the conceptual relations in the form of lexical similarities during concept mapping. Although the research community is becoming increasingly aware of and using natural language processing approaches, it is fundamental to include the contextual relationships existing within an application’s business domain. This research proposes to investigate the use of domain specific ontological relations during concept mapping to improve concept location when implementing business requirements.
